Aeka Chatra from grade 7 represented Maharashtra state at the 33rd Sub-junior National Aquatic Championship, held at Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre, Bengaluru from June 29 to July 2, 2016,
Aeka performed outstandingly well and won six medals in total, with 3 gold medals in 100m Backstroke, 4x50m Freestyle relay, and 4x50m Medley relay; 1 silver medal in 50m Butterfly; and 2 bronze medals in 50m Backstroke and 100m Butterfly. 

She also broke a national record in her individual event and set two new records in her 4x50m Freestyle relay, and 4x50m Medley relay races.
