Chapter I - Abnormality

“Dismissed!”

This was always the last sound Andrew heard from Mr. Crawley – his Science teacher – and always did like them as he was terrible in the subject and never got above 58% in the past 5 years of his life. “Andrew!” Andrew swung his sloppy head towards Mr. Crawley whose face was pale, paper white with dark black spectacles looping crystal blue eyes, which made him look like a mind freak.

“Sir?” Andrew spoke in a plain Indian accent, a natural for someone who had lived 15 years in that mystic land and had recently migrated to London. He studied at the University of Oxford – a newly built one – and had fallen in love with it ever since.

The tone of Mr. Crawley’s voice made Andrew think he was going to get a bad shouting for drowsing away languidly in the monotonous lecture of how to separate hydrogen and oxygen from water.

“Andrew, I need to talk to you”, said Mr. Crawley in a rather serious voice. “Take a seat.” He gestured to an empty chair by his table. Andrew sat down and asked “What is this regarding, Sir?”

“You have been telling me about these awkward feelings that you keep getting and you think it is fever, right?” He spoke in a formal English accent. Andrew’s eyes then glimmered when he heard this question.

“Yes, Sir.”

“Well, I’ve been doing research and I’ve found out that this isn’t normal in other people.”

“So, you’re trying to say that I am abnormal?”

“Not exactly. Let’s say, ummm…….. You’re supernatural. That’s the right word it is.”

Andrew didn’t have the faintest of clues of what he should be feeling right now. Glad that he’s different or intimidated that no one else is like him.
