Our Trip to Muktangan
We, the Grade 4B children of ABWA, went for a community service visit to a small school called Dr. Ambedkar School. This school is run by Muktangan, an NGO which means playground of freedom. It is an initiative of the Paragon Charitable Trust. This school is for slum dwellers' children. Their classrooms were small and dark but they were equipped with televisions and blackboards.
After reaching there we kept our bags in a small room and went to their library to interact with the students of that school. Most of the children seemed thin and short but they were very energetic and enthusiastic to learn something from us.

The objective of our trip was to teach them the importance of team work so we began with a skit - 'Unity is strength' where students of our class emphasized the importance of growing together which is also the mission statement of Muktangan. After that we played some group games like dodge ball, tug of war, passing the parcel and jumping over the hurdles. While watching them playing the games, I noticed that though they were thin they had good physical strength and body control and most of all a will to win. We played these games to learn about teamwork. Most people think that the children of slums are less intelligent but after my interaction with them, I realized that they were like me.
I have decided to donate my old books and toys to them. I also have planned to collect money from bake sales and give it to them so that they can buy computers, projectors, tables and chairs. With our help they will get a good education which will help them to get a good job. This will help them to lead a happy and healthy life.
