Nothing's gonna stop us now!

All the practices, all the effort and of course all the bunking classes. All for the success of just 1 day. And this is probably one of the most enjoyable days in the entire year. With all the gusto in us and all the energy around us, we are preparing for the Annual concert.

We began practices around 2 weeks ago. In the beginning, it was madness, with 200 kids running around trying to be on time for practice, even though they had no clue of where to go. But in a few days it settled down. Now everyone knows about the break-dance practices on the sixth floor, the play in the auditorium and the band in the basement.

Confusion galore! The Aditya Vandana or the prayer dance is the energetic opening of the event. It is going very well (though the artists can do with better punctuality!); they know what they are doing, remember everything and just need the “last bit of polish before the furniture can be sold”. With the help of the highly talented Ms. Vidya - our dance instructor - and her assistants, everyone is so sure that this opening piece will keep the audience mired in their seats

.The Friends group is hilarious, they are talented, speak professionally and comically and have a superb script written by our very own English teacher Ms. Rego and Ms. Silvia. You will see the group throughout the show. They will be your comic relief and break between the performances.

The Ashoka play is doing very well and dear Ms. Vandana, who is the Teacher in-charge, is so rightly confident that the play will be a success. Though she is no Hitler, she will not accept anything but the best and that’s what’s making the actors give their best. The actors are very happy with the casting, and everyone agrees that it could not have been more appropriate. Each character suits the actors’ style. The story follows the actual life of Ashoka and is directed very well; one surely wouldn’t want to miss this play. Warning: Don’t miss, or you’ll regret it!

Ready for some more laughter? The Hasya Kavi Sammelan is truly funny! Mrs. Tripti made a wonderful script and everyone loves it, from Ms. Birla to even the 5th graders. They might have used old wine but it is put in wonderful new bottles, all thanks to the acting done by the naughty students of our school. It is truly a difficult task.

The play Mothers Day, is a wonderful story and the performers have truly done a wonderful job. Not to forget our very own directors, Ms. Anokhi and Mrs. Pooja who have done a superb job in helping the actors. Its theme goes like this — a mother who is very modest and is rejected by her family switches souls with a powerful woman and gives the family a lesson that they and every discriminator will remember for a long long time...
Go girls! The Folk Dances...dance form really loved by all..and Ms. Neerja inspired us by saying said that like the Aditya Vandana, it needed a bit more finishing.

The Rajasthani Folk Dance is very well choreographed and the performers feel the music through their body while they dance. This dance is only by the girls, and they do every step as they are told to do, from balancing on a thali to dancing so elegantly, that even a person interested completely in western dance forms will adore it.

A warming dance for KashmirThe Bihu Folk Dance (ASSAM) – is like putting the pieces of a puzzle together, and then the whole dance looks beautiful. It is basically the tribute of the wives of Assam to their husbands and how they appreciate them.

The Kashmiri Dance - young talented 6th & 7th grade girls, who are diligently learning and working towards perfecting their show. The enthusiastic girls are so eager to show their dance to their parents!

Mamma Mia what a dance! The Bhangra – balle balle - is turning out to be superb, and everyone involved has promised to keep infusing their energy in it. Ms. Franak and Ms. Vidya think that they are good but they need to make their teeth white (brush up). So more toothpaste, guys!

The piece has persons on other persons’ backs, cartwheels, flips and ‘fliers’! You will see it for yourself soon. These 3 days will pass in no time.

The Western Dances are going very well to...they Mamma Mia twist to Jail House rock and a special tribute will be given by the break dancers to the King of Pop Michael Jackson (MJ).

Mamma Mia: Everybody collectively put their thoughts for the choreography and with help of Roopa Ma’am and Ashwin, the dance is a success and we believe has given justice to the song by ABBA! They have millions of dances inside one dance, making it a true masterpiece.

Jailhouse Rock: This song has 6th, 7th and 8th graders and is a typical twist song, with Marshall Sir’s efforts and wonderful retro steps... the performers have to dance well.

Break Dance: Another dance where the performers are eager to dance. The “Like I Love You” song has steps will make a dead man want to dance!! The Billie Jean dance is going very well but the Dangerous can do better in the co-ordination aspect. Smooth Criminal girls are dancing very well and there is no doubt in that. Even those simple steps look very good. Thriller, the final dance is a complete group dance. Whilst the whole piece is shaping well, a lot of credit should go to MJ himself for making such music!

Lastly, the Rock Band... they will remind you of MJ, with Vikram on the Drum, Varun, Ansh and Abhimanu on the guitar, young Aviva on the keyboard, Madhav on the Base and Nihal and Ananya singing. That’s not it, young Aryaman will blow you away when Jaiveer’s on the drums, as he sings Imagine and spirited Ananya sing Satisfaction (The Adam Lambert Version). They will make you feel as if you have been transposed to a live concert.

As the students are putting everything they have into this concert and practising the whole day long, we truly long to see you at the concert on the 26th of this month. Viva ABWA!
